Peter Yates, film director, Great Train Robbery film

What's it all about then: Director Peter Yates - in an endeavour to sustain complete realism for his film on the Great Train Robbery marshalled his forces and planned his shooting schedule along the lines of a military campaign. The 60-strong film unit has been hurtled round more than 20 different London locations and when our photographer caught up with the unit, director and star Stanley Baker they were catching their breath in the former home of new Scotland Yard. Stanley Baker who plays the part of the gang leader and brain behind the world famous daring robbery is also the co-producer. His previous production effort was the highly successful Zulu, and he has starred in 26 major films. The parts of the train robbers will be played by experienced actors whose faces are not familiar to filmgoers so as to preserve the greatest possible realism; they are Frank Finlay, Barry Foster, William Marlowe, Clinton Greyn and Patrick Jordan
