Philip Brian Cecil Moore, Queen's new assistant
Oct. 10, 1966 - The Queen's new assistant Private Secretary; The Queen has chosen a former Oxford Blue and England Rugby player from the senior ranks of the civil service as her new Assistant Private Secretary. He is 45 year old Mr. Philip Brian Cecil Moore, father of two teenagers and the present head of Public Relations at the Ministry of Defense. He replaces 56 year old Sir Edward Fod, who has held the post for 21 years. Sir Edward Ford obtained the Queen's permission to retire earlier than the normal retiring age of 60 to 65 so that a younger man could replace him and provide continuity of office.
