May 05, 1961 - The Eichmann trial continues in Jerusalem: The trial of Adolf Eichmann now in its 30th day continues in Jerusalem. Among the witnesses giving evidence recently was Titzhak Nechama - his evidence being that 9, 000 Jews were paraded in a Salonika Square in July 1942 and were beaten by the Germans. Photographs were produced in evidence of a man being revived with a bucket of water after being beaten unconscious and of sailors laughing while a man was being whipped. One photograph showed Nechama performing knee bending exercises in front of a German soldier claiming he was beaten all the time after which he was in bed for a fortnight being unconscious for four days. Asked who took the photographs Nechama said German girls were watching from balconies with cameras. As they saw people being beaten up they clapped their hands and applauded.
