1968 - The treasure of Harrow: When the Queen pays her private visit to Sir Winston's Old School she will evidence one of the affection which an Ancient Public School engenders in its boys. During the coming Season, her Majesty will pay visits to several public schools; These will be considered Private and it has been stated that they do not imply that her son will be sent to any of the schools visited. Her Majesty will be taken to the famous Speech Room and see the memorial panel on which are inscribed the names of the 19 old boys awarded the nations highest award for Valour. In this room, where the school meets once a week to hear the program for the coming seven days, every chair has been presented by a famous old boy and bears his name on the back. During her visit the Queen will see the Vaughen Library and museum where Old Harrovians prove their affection for their school by the magnificent collection of relics of famous Old Harrovians. Every item has been bequeathed of presented during the lifetime of an C.H. Prized in the Museum is the Byron collection, and the first letter written by Churchill as a Harrow Boy. This is one of a series of pictures showing some of the treasures of Harrow. Harrow's picture gallery belonging to Custos': Tradition dictates that before a Harrovian leaves he gives a picture of himself to Custos (mr. B.C. Burton), School Custodian his wall-gallery includes signed pictures of Winston Churchill, Pandit Nehr and Lord Alexander and King Feisal
