Feb. 29 ITALIAN PAINTER RESTORES DAMAGED FRESCOES, ... The well-known Italian painter, PIETRO ANNIGONI, known throughout the world for his portraits, is now at work at the delicate task of restoring the frescoes in a little 16th Century church in Ponte Buggianese in the centre of /tall. Annigoni began his work in 19G9 after a visit to the church. It was built in 1530, financed by a collection made by the peasants, who still consider it their property. As a salary for his work, Annigoni receives their eggs, chickens and wines at his home in Florence. He will need between one and two years more to complete his work. Annigoni was born in Nilen, but lives and works in Florence. He has painted Pope John XIII, Queen Elizabeth, John Kennedy, Harold Wilson and others. He is also renowned for his landscapes and religious paintings and ftescoes
