Plaster cast resembling Queen Elizabeth II removed

Feb. 11, 1954 - Cast Like The Queen Removed: A plaster cast of a girl's head and shoulders, being used for display purposes in a showcase used by a Piccadilly store was removed from the west lounge at London Airport yesterday. Passengers and airport staff had commented that it had a distinct likeness to the Queen. Sir John D'Albiac, the airport commandment, communicated with the firm, and a members substituted a birdcage. Mr. K. Partridge, the firm's display artist, said it was one of the store's lift girls. The work was exected abot 12 years ago by a French sculptor. The store had several of the casts, and they were frequently used for window dressing. No one had complained before. He thought the resemblance purely coincidental.
