Apr. 18 Peter Lorenz - Chairman of the Berlin CDU Party Kidnapped: Only some days before the election for the Berlin Abgeordnetenhaus (House of Representatives), the chairman of the Berlin CDU (Christian Democratic Union). Peter Lorenz, was kidnapped. The attack happened on February 27th near the home of Lorenz, when the politician was going to the office in his car. Two men and one woman stopped the car of the CDU chairman, knocked down his driver and menaced Lorenz with a tommy gun and then started off with the kidnapped man in the direction of the City. Although there was started immediately a great search in Berlin and also in the Federal Republic of Germany, till now there is no trace of the kidnappers, who made public their claims for release of Lorenz, these are: Release of Berlin lawyer Horst Mahler and further five members of the organisation Rote Armee Faktion (Red Army Faction), provision of a Boeing 707 for flight away and escort of this machine by a person in public life, they proposed the former Berlin Mayor and present clergyman Heinrich Albertz. The letter including these claims is signed Bewegung 2. Juni (2 June Movement) (on June 2nd 8 years ago there was killed the student Benno Chnesorge during a demonstration in Berlin).
