Oct. 10, 1953 - 1 million pound of butter for 470, 000 indigent persons: From voluntary charities of the American people one million pound of butter are distributed to 470, 000 poor persons of Fest-Berlin. This was one of the last suggestions of the deceased mayor Prof.Reuter. The support-programme was performed by The International Rescue Committee and the Mayor Reuter Endowment.
