Oct. 10, 1953 - 1 million pound of butter for 470, 000 indigent persons: From voluntary charities of the American people one million pound of butter are distributed to 470, 000 poor persons of Fest-Berlin. This was one of the last suggestions of the deceased mayor Prof.Reuter. The support-programme was performed by The International Rescue Committee and the Mayor Reuter Endowment. Photo shows Mrs. Hanna Reuter, the wife of the deceased mayor (2nd from left), opened the action and distributed butter parcels to the poors. On her side from left to right: Mayor Dr.Schreiber the American commander General Timberman and the president of the International Rescue Committee Dr.Leo Cherne
