1964 - U.s.Ambassador Recovering form Knife Attack. The American Ambassador to Japan, Edwin O Reischaure, who was stabbed in the thigh by a Japanese youth as he was leaving the America Embassy in Tokyo on march 24th, has recovered sufficiently to leave hospital this week. as he no able to walk around his room. The 19-year-old mentally deranged youth has stated that he attacked the Ambassador because of reforms carried out by U.S. Occupational forces in Japan which limited educational and job opportunities for persons with bad eyesight, and as he is Myoptic, he suffered as a consequence.
