Portrait of King Friedrich II the Great in Heidelberg
Jul. 07, 1962 - The only real painting.... of the Old Fritz, the famous Prussian soldier king (1740 - 86 a.c.) is on display in a museum at Heidelberg, Germany. King Friedrich II, the Great as he was named, only once in his life posed for a painter in 1763 on Salzdahlum Castle. Their painter Ziesenis created the portrait of the king which today has a worth of 50000 Marks. This only authentical portrait shows another man as the German people were used to see in Fridericus Rex, the most famous king in Prussian history.
