Oct. 02, 1962 - The new portrait of the Queen by Edward Halliday, R.A. She wears her Garter robes and plumed has as she stands majestically in the sitting of the Thames Valley against the background of Windsor Castle. The Picture is shown in the fall exhibition of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery at Fredericton, New Brunswick, which opened on Thanksgiving Day. (October 8) The Queen gave special permission for the portrait which was commissioned by Lady Dunn, on behalf of the Sir James Dunn Foundation. The Foundation was created by Lady Dunn in memory of her husband with an endowment of seven million dollars. She is Chief Governor of the Beaverbrook Art Gallery
