Nov. 17, 1959 - New portrait of H.M. The Queen - by Northern Ireland Artist.: A portrait of H.M. The Queen has been painted by Miss Lydia de Burgh the Northern Ireland artist - and has been purchased by the Government of Northern Ireland and will hang in the Parliament Buildings at Stormont - the first portrait of a reigning monarch to do so. The picture is still to be framed and it will be some time before it is installed. Miss de Burgh had five sittings with the Queen and spent several weeks painting at Buckingham Palace - and is one of the youngest artists to have had sittings from the Queen.
