Sep. 09, 1970 - International Postmen's Road walking Championships at Crystal Palace Sports Centre.: The last European Postman's Walk. to be staged under the present rules -which stipulates that each walker must wear his uniform and carry a mailbag - took place today at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. In future Walks competitors will be allowed to wear athletic kit. Six countries took the track for today's event - the first to be staged in in Britain.
