Mar. 03, 1991 - Penny Black went to Japan: The most famous stamp on earth, the first Penny Black, has a new owner since last Saturday. Within ten minutes the stamp was sold during an auction in Lugano. A Japanese Group paid 3, 4 Million Swiss Francs for this ra re object. This Penny Black had been used for the first time in 1840 on a letter posted in London.
