Aug. 08, 1972 - Ex-President Peron accused of being a coward: Lost the right to be President of Argentina. 1972 August 25th was the deadline for ex President of Argentina, General Juan Domingo Peron, to return to his country and present himself as one of the candidates for the Presidency in view of the forthcoming presidential elections in March 1973. One of his most ardent political followers when Peron governed, Patricio Kelly, sent a telegram to Peron in Madrid accusing him of cowardice for not returning to Argentina. This telegram was publicised in many parts of Buenos Aires
