Feb. 02, 1996 - PRASES SCHARF, NEW BISHOP The church council of the Lutheran Church of Berlin-Brandenburg met on 15th February in Johannes-Stift in Berlin to elect a successor to the 85 year old bishop Otto Dibelius. In spite of strong protests from the East, the President of the Council of the Lutheran Church in Germany, Prases Scharf, was elected. He lives in Berlin and he was banished from East Berlin some days after the wall was built, OPs: Bishop Scharf after the election
