Preparing glass coach for Princess Anne's wedding
Nov. 11, 1973 - Preparing the famous Glass Coach for Princess Anne's wedding: Preparations were going ahead today preparing the Glass Coach which will be used by Princess Anne for her wedding to Captain Mark Philips at Westminster Abbey on November 14th. This carriage, built in 1910 as a sheriff Town Coach, was purchased in the same year by King George V. It was later altered for the 1911 Coronation and is now maroon in colour with blue silk upholstery. It is drawn by four grey horses controlled by a coachman, with two footmen behind. The Coach has been used for five previous Royal Weddings. Photo shows carriage cleaner, Jim Butler, busy preparing the Glass Coach in the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace today
