Mar. 03, 1987 - Aida Performance in Luxor; For the firsttime in one hundred years Guiseppe Verdi's Famous Opera Aida will be performed among the ancient ruins of Egypt. In 1870 the Viceroy of Egypt had ordered this master work to celebrate the opening of the Suez Canal. It was first staged on December 24, 1871 in front of the Pyramids. the new performance will take place in front of the Amun temple in the centre of today's Luxor.
