Presentation of Shakespeare volumes to Dr T M Knox
Sep. 09, 1960 - Presentation Of Volumes Of Shakespeare: London: Dr.T.M. Knox (left), Principal of St. Andrews University, is presented with a set of the first four Folios of Shakespeare's plays by Mr. Eustace Seligman, an official of the Folger Library, Washington D.C. USA, who have given the volumes to the University on Permanent Loan. The ceremony took place today at the Winfield House, Regent's Park Home of the American Ambassador, Mr.John Hay Whitney. The Folger Library's collection of Tudor and Stuart History and Literature includes the most significant collection of Shakespeare's works in the World. The Library's trustees believed that some of the Folios would serve more important purpose in institutions where none were available
