Preserving of old Traditions.: The town of Triavna

Jun. 06, 1975 - Preserving of old Traditions.: The town of Triavna, Gabrovo district, a town famous for preserving the art of the old masters-woodcarvers, is proud of its citizen Tzanyo Antonoy, 66m laureat of Dimitrov prize and honoured culutral worker. A teacher in wood-carving for forty years in the Wood-working Sol of the town, Tzanyo Antonov founded the specialized museum of wood-carving and icon-painting, the only one in Bulgaria. In order to organize this museum he has been collecting and keeping for 18 years samples of wood-carving and icon-painting from the town and nearby villages, valuable objects left by the old master of the Triavna school. Antonov has published a book name Wood-carving in the Triavna Mouse'. Now already retired, Tzanyo Antonov/centre/ is counstantly among the young future wood-carvers from the Vocational School of Wood - carving and Inner Architecture in the town of Triavna. He helps them to master the old traditional craft
