1954 - Iceland's President on Official Visit to Denmark. President Asgeir Asgeirsson of Iceland, accompanied by his wife, arrived in Copenhagen yesterday on an official visit to Denmark. This is the Icelandic President's first visit to the Danish capital, which for 500 years was also the capital of Iceland. Last night they attended a dinner given by King Frederik in their honour, at the Knight's Hall, in the Christiansborg Palace, Copenhagen.
