President de Gaulle, assassination attempt

Aug. 23, 1962 - Attempt Against The Life Of The President: Terrorists made an attempt against the life of President Charles de Gaulle yesterday. as he was being driven to Villacoublay airport near Paris. Twice within a radius of 50 meters, the terrorists opened fire with sub machine-guns, as the president's car drove by. He was unscathed. Nobody in his entourage was hit, although a man driving in the opposite direction was injured by a bullet, in the hand.
