President Isabel Peron of Argentina, National Day
May 05, 1975 - For the first time in Argentina a Female President Inaugurates the Parliament on the occasion of the celebrations of May 1st. For the first time in the history of the Argentine Republic it was a woman, as President of the country, who read the message of inauguration of the Parliament who will begin a new year of political activities in Argentina. It was a two hour speech attended by the government members as well as the political opposition parties and armed forces. Later in the afternoon President Dona Maria Estela Martinez de Peron (Isabel), widow of late President Juan Peron, appeared from the balcony of Government House to the crowd in Plaza de Mayo - Among different concepts by which she demanded more production to help in the reconstruction of the country she mentioned the extremists who are destroying the economy of Argentina. President Peron said, I don't fear for my life and things came to the limit of patience and he had too much patience and comprehension with. From now on the fight will be intense.
