President Juan Peron withdraws resignation, Buenos Aires
Sep. 09, 1955 - President Peron withdraws his resignation after demonstration by his supporters: General Peron's offer to resign was withdrawn after the General confederation of Labour had refused to accept it and staged a demonstration and a stoppage of work throughout the country, Argentine workers assembled in front of Government House in the Plaza de Mayo to demand the President withdraw his resignation. After some delay President Peron appeared on the balcony and in one of his most aggressive speeches he has ever made he told the crowd he had decided to withdraw his resignation at the people's request.
