Aug. 08, 1955 - Egyptian Minister Flies To Mecca. Egypt's strong man dictator, President Naguib, cast off his soldier's uniform and donned the white ceremonial robes that a Moslem wears on a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca (Saudi Arabia). Yesterday, at dawn, accompanied by Major Salah Salem, his Minister of National Guidance, he took off for Mecca in a military aircraft.
