President Pompidou with General Council of the Valleys
Sep. 26, 1969 - For the first time in history, Andorra changed its two co-princes at the same time. Ramon Villa, Bishop of Lerida and apostolic administrator of Seo-d'Urgell succeeded Mr. Iglesis Navarra. Georges Pompidou was elected co-prince for France. The President invited Francesco Escude, an Andorra representative, to the Elysee Palace for the occasion, as well as two members of the Valleys Council who gave him the quiesta, a sum of money that Andorrans pay their French co-prince regularly.
