May 05, 1982 - Reagan Speaks Out On Missile Race. President Ronald W. Reagan at his Press Conference from The East Room of The White House, spoke out on, the Salt II Treaty and told the reporters that the Treaty was dead. Reagan said he was willing to negotiate on the reduction of U.S. bombers and cruise missiles but was focusing on the big intercontinental ballistic missiles because they were more destabilizing. He wants reductions in missiles that can be touched off by push of a button
