July 12, 1960 - Belgrade, Yugoslavia - Marshal JOSIP TITO led Yugoslavia for almost four decades, from 1943 to 1980. Although Tito's Yugoslavia was a Communist state, he defied Stalin and the USSR's rule, and became one of the founders and promoters of the Non-Aligned Movement.
