Prince Charles, 40th anniversary of Bruneval raid, France

Jun. 21, 1982 - They were celebrating the 40th anniversary of the raid of Bruneval, the first offensive raid that succeeded on the French coast since the defeat in June of 1940. The celebration of the friendship between French and British armed forces was very heartfelt. In perfect French, Prince Charles thanks Mitterrand for the eagerness with which he brought his support to Great Britain during the Falkland crisis. The French President concluded: You have to go to war if it leads to freedom, but you also have to known how to make peace
