Jul. 13, 1977 - July 13th 1977 Prince Charles flies in a harrier at RAF Wittering. Prince Charles who was on a visit to RAF Wittering today, took over the controls of a two-seater harrier jump jet. Prince Charles who was promoted to Wing Commander at the beginning of the year had a familiarisation flight which involved a general handling mission, including techniques and demonstration of the navigation and weapon-aiming systems from RAF Wittering and this afternoon he flew on a simulated operational mission over Wales, in which Prince Charles aircraft was the number two of a pair of Harriers
