Princess Elizabeth and Philip, marriage licence

Sep. 22, 1947 - London, England, U.K. - Marriage licence for Princess Elizabeth and Philip Mountbatten. Daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, ELIZABETH WINDSOR (named Elizabeth II) and PRINCE PHILIP, Duke of Edinburgh married on 20 November 1947. The wedding was seen as the first glimmer of hope in a post-war Commonwealth, and, though the royal couple received over 2, 500 wedding gifts from around the world, rationing required that the Princess save up her ration coupons to buy the material for her wedding dress
