Feb. 29 Princess Ellaline of Mongyai: She will become the first woman to rule a Shan State. Seventeen-year-old Princess Ellaline will become the first woman to rule a Shan State in Burma: A beautiful seventeen-year-old girl with long dark hair and lustrous eyes is preparing herself for the future with the serious intention and aim of becoming a ruler as popular and industrious for her people as the Great Queen Elizabeth II of England. Princess Ellaline of Mongyai is the eldest of eight daughters of the Sawbwa of Mongyai, one of Burma's independent Shan States. He has no sons, and therefore the princess will automatically become ruler when he dies. It will be the first time in Shan history that a woman will occupy the ruler's throne. The Princess has been educated at a Convent in Rangoon, and is studying Law. But in spite of her serious outlook and great ambition for the English Queen, she is girl-like in her love of film-stars. Her present passion is Rock Hudson. She also liked modern music, with a favourite tune of True Love
