Princess Margaret model at Madame Tussaud's

Jun. 06, 1952 - Princess Margaret's new wax effigy at Tussaud's: Miss Denise of Norman Hartnell's adjusts the gown worn by the wax figure of H. R. R. Princess Margaret. which wear a ball gown similar to one she wore on her Carribean Tour. It is of honey - coloured satin, with a centre panel in a deeper tone down the centre. It is flared from the waist into a full skirt. The dress has delicate tracery of embroidery in beads and pailettes which empasize the two tones of the satin. Long matching gloves are worn, and the only jewellry is a single row of diamonds and small stud earrings. The Royal group at Madame Tussaud's : Latest attraction, ready for the Summer Season when th Chief of these is that of Her Majesty the Queen wearing the full robes of the Soveriegn of the most Nobel order of the Garter. The Queen's permission had to be obtained to do this. Other Royal figures are those of Princess Margaret, the Queen Mother, the Princess Royal and the Duchess of Gloucester. Norman Hartnell made the dresses of all the royal figures except that of the Queen. Her robe was made by Miss J. Bertrand, Wardrobe Mistress at Tussaud's. The jewellry, specially made for the Royal figures, cost ?5, 000, and is all based on actual jewellry worn on State occasions. The Garter robe worn by the Queen, as distinct from the gown beneath, was made, perfect in every detail, by Adeney and Bountroy. It is generally considered that the Royal figures are a remarkable likeness, and will give to all who see them, an unrivalled chances to feel they are in on a Royal occasion, and have a close look at the Royal family
