Princess Margaret visits Jerome House, London
Jun. 13, 1969 - Princess Margaret in a Gaily Coloured Dress Visits Commonwealth Hostel: Princess Margaret wore this gaily coloured dress with her hair drawn back and pinned with a circlet of flowers reminiscent of the Japanese fashion, when she paid a visit to two student hostels of the Zebra Trust, meeting and talking with married students and their families from many of the commonwealth countries. The first hostel, Jerome House, in West Kensington, is the largest of the trust's hostels, and houses 230 students, married and single, including 70 children - from about 30 Commonwealth countries. The Princess probably adopted something of the East in her style of dress and hairdo in preparation for her visit with Lord Snowdon to Japan in September.
