May 05, 1957 - Mr. Robin Douglas-Home is refused the hand of Princess Margaretha of Sweden.: Count Carl-Reinhold Von Essen, Master of the Swedish Royal Household said yesterday that Mr. Robin Douglas-Home has asked for the hand of Princess Margaretha the 22 year old daughter of Princess Sidylla and grand-daughter of King Gustav. His uit had been refused. Princess Margaretha met 25 year old Mr. Home, who is a nephew of the Earl of Home, Conservative Leader in the house of Common - when he was playing the piano in the bar of a Mayfair Cocktail room. The Princess was called back from London when news of the rapidly growing affair leaked out.
