Jul. 15, 1957 - Prisoners form their own Bowls team. The ?Woodscrubbers? at Wormwood Scrubbs ? Long term prisoners at Wormwood Scrubbs prison in London have formed their own Bowls team. They play for an hour each evening on lawn in the prison. and they hope soon to have a match with a team from the House of Commons. The Cumberland turf lawn was originally laid in the 30?s but went to waste during the war. A gardener prisoner was given a job of bringing the lawn back to its own splendor.
