Feb. 26 Hamburg Prison Inmates make their own TV programme: The Hamburg-Fuhlsbuttel prison in Hamburg is the first prison in West Germany where the inmates make their own TV programme. Since about a year, seven inmates each week compile and film a 20-minutes programme which informs about the prison sports events, gives information by the direction of the institution, book reviews of the new books in the library, film programmes, and other informations concerning the life in prison. The techinical outfit comes from the stock of the North German Television and editors of that institute as well as the psychologist of the prison give advice to the makers. The TV-making is an experiment to give the inmates a feeling for co-operation and responsibility and to inform them about what's going on inside the prison. It is thought of as a step towards re-socialisation. Photo shows inmates of the prison at work for the next programme
