Apr. 17 12-YEAR OLD BOY SPENDS FORTNIGHT IN GAOL: A 12-year-old part-Aboriginal boy has been released after spending two weeks in gaol, at Alice Springs, Australia. When Mr. G.F. Hall, a local magistrate, sentenced the boy to two weeks gaol he said he was gravely concerned at the lack of institutions in the Northern Territory to which such cases could be sent. Mr. Hall said the boy had confessed to a great number of crimes'. His father felt that two weeks in gaol might bring the boy to his senses. Before taking action, the court received an assurance that there were adequate provisions in Alice Springs prison for the boy's proper care and segregation from other prisoners, he said.
