Sep. 09, 1961 - Europe's Largest Reinforced Plastic Structure Completed: The largest reinforced plastics structure yet made in Europe, a ground radome, which looks like a giant three-quarter football, has just been completed and erected for test by English Electric at Freckleton, Lancs. The structure, for the Protection of the defence radar equipment, is designed to withstand hurricane force winds and temperature well below zero.
