Sep. 18, 1961 - Europe's largest Reinforced Plastics Structure Completed : The largest reinforced plastics structure yest made in Europe, aground radome, which looks like a giant three - quarter football, has just been completed and erected fro test by English electric at Freckleton, Lancs. The structure, for the protection of defence radar equipment, is designed to withstand hurricane - force winds and temperatures well below zero.
