Proteus submarine depot ship, Holy Loch, Scotland

Mar. 03, 1961 - Demonstrations As US Submarine Depot Ship Arrives At The Holy Loch: There were anti-nuclear demonstrations this morning when the United States submarine depot ship Proteus docked in the Holy Loch, Firth of Clyde, Scotland. The demonstrators used Kayaks with which they tried to delay the mooring of the vessel - but one by one they were swamped and thrown into the water by the wash of the flotilla of police and Royal Navy launches. Photo shows depot ship Proteus in the Holy Loch today
