Queen Elizabeth II, carpet portrait
Oct. 31, 1953 - Carpet Portrait of the Queen - Mr. JC Varney, an employee in the carpet department of Druces, the Baker-Street store, has just completed a carpet portrait of the Queen. Some time ago, he did a similar portrait of Queen Mary. The portrait of the Queen is worked in Wilton Carpating. A see tion of the red yarn was unpicked, then the 60, 000 tufts which from the Queen's picture of were woven in. This represents hours of work and was accomplished by Mr. JC Varney
