Feb. 09, 1954 - Royal Australian Tour. The Queen Rides In A Gingerbread Train: The Queen and the Prince Philip left Sydney this morning to travel 150 miles north in a museum piece train to the industrial center of Newcastle. They went by Royal train, a train built before the Commonwealth of Australia was born and first used by the Queen's grandfather 53 years ago - a train painted in gingerbread-brown with Victorian gingerbread designs in gold round the windows and doors.
