Feb. 27, 1954 - Royal Australian Tour: The Queen's Sporting day in Melbourne. H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh have today spent a Sporting Saturday in Melbourne. After watching the racing at Flemington Racecourse, the Royal Couple afterwards visited the Kooyong Tennis Court, where they watched part of the final day's play in the third Lawn tennis Test between Australia and South Africa during which the home team suffered a surprise defeat when they were beaten by the South Africans by five matches to three. Photo shows HM the Queen and H.R.H. the Duke of Edinburgh admiring Australia's proudest possession, the Davis Cup won earlier this year, during today visit to the Kooyong Tennis Court at Melbourne. Her Majesty met members of Australia's victorious Davis Cup team, who presented The Queen with small gold replica of the Trophy as a momento of her visit
