Feb. 09, 1965 - The Queen Camps Out - Overlooking The Blue Nile: Last Friday H.M. The Queen who is on a state visit to Ethiopia - camped out on a site 23 miles of Gondar - the old Ethiopian Capital - set up overlooking the Blue Nile - 3, 000 ft. below. The Queen's tent was equipped with all mod-cons - complete with piped hot water - deep carpets and electric candelabra. There were 50 tents in the encampment - and they were guarded by troops with machine guns - and a thornbush fence to keep out stray pack of foxes - baboons and other animals.
