Feb. 29 HAILE SELASSIE AT THE PALACE. EMPEROR OF ETHIOPIA ARRIVES FOR STATE VISIT. H.M THE QUEEN, THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH and otjer members of the Royal Family, were at Victoria station, London this afternoon to welcome the Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia, on his arrival for a three-day State visit. The Emperor, who is accompanied by his son, The Duke of Harar, travelled from Malta in the Royal Navy cruiser HMS Gambia and was met at Portsmouth by the Duke of Gloucester, who accompanied him to London. During his State visit he is staying at Buckingham Palace as the guest of the Queen and will afterwards go to his English home at Bath before visiting Bristol, Oxford and several towns. This is the Emperor's first visit to Britain since he left in 1941 after fiver year's exile here during the Italian occupation of his country.
