Queen Elizabeth II and King Faisal of Iraq
Jul. 07, 1958 - Revolt In Iraq. King Faisal Deposed. Baghdad Radio said that the Government had been overthrown. The Radio said that General Nuri Al Said, the pro-Western Premier, and Crown Prince Abdul Illah, had been killed and their bodies burned. Both Cairo and Damascus radios, quoting Free Iraq Radios - said the revolution was led by General Abdul Karim el Kassem. It claimed that King Faisal had been deposed.
