Queen Elizabeth II at London Clinic

Mar. 03, 1965 - Queen visits her uncle - Duke of Windsor and meets the Duchess officially for first time.: H.M. the Queen last evening paid a visit to her uncle - the Duke of Windsor - who is recovering from an eye operation at the London Clinic. During the visit the Queen met the Duchess of Windsor - for the first time officially since the Duke's abdication - twenty eight years ago. The visit brushed aside the Court rule that the Sovereign should not receive a divorced person such as the Duchess. Photo shows H.M. the Queen bids farewell to the Matron - Miss Joan Lewis when she left the Clinic - after the historic meeting last night
