Queen Elizabeth II at opening of Cutty Sark, Greenwich

Jun. 06, 1957 - Royal visit to Cutty Sark': London: The Queen, with Prince Philip (right) looks over the ornate bows of the Cutty Sark -- The last of the clippers -- during a visit paid by the Royal couple to the ship where she lies in dry dock at Greenwich. The 212-ft. long vessel, a tribute to the ships and men of the Merchant Navy in the days of sail, was opened to the public by the Queen. Great care has been taken to ensure during the restoration of the Cutty Sark that the ship is the same as when she sailed in the wool and tea trades
