Mar. 02, 1970 - The Queen and Princess Anne Leave by Air for Their 40, 000 Mile Royal Tour. The Queen, accompanied by Princess Anne left Heathrow Airport today in a BOAC Super VC-10 aircraft for her 40, 000 mile tour of Fiji, Tonga, New Zealand and Australia, which will take nine weeks. The Queen's journeys through New Zealand and Australia are timed to coincidence with the 200th anniversary of Captain Cook's voyages. Prince Philip, who has been playing polo in Mexico, will join them in Vancouver, and the Price of Wales will join them in Wellington on March 12th.
